What kind of parent would I be if I didn’t show my children the joys of running a small business?
A couple of weeks ago, Grady, Annie Bea and their buddy, Shay, were thrilled to find out we were opening a lemonade stand. It’s been decades since I sold lemonade off the back of my father’s work truck – so I did a little Google research to see how kids operate their stands these days.
What the hell! Have you seen lemonade stands lately? Looks like the parents hired architects, designers and mixologists. Who has this kind of time and energy?
Well, if there’s anything I’ve learned in advertising it’s that you must differentiate yourself from the competition. I think the lemonade powder mix, cardboard box signs and unique phrases really spoke to who we are as a company.
Oh, and Grady nailed our brand’s key benefit when the first customer pulled up.
Grady: Hello and thank you for your business! As you can see, we have plenty of free parking.
