Forgive me, children. It’s been six weeks since my last blog post and these are the reasons why.
1. October was nuts.
Mainly because of Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday of the year and we have our annual Trick-or-Treat party. Haunted decorating, costume planning, candy buying, chili making, booze buying, treat planning, etc. This year, Annie Bea was a bunny (not the Playboy kind) and Grady was a Nexo Knight (if you don’t know what that is, it’s ok—I don’t either).
2. We had a baby.
Well, my sister and her womb did all the work, and baby Molly doesn’t live with us, and I don’t have to pay for her college—but I still consider her to be OUR baby. The whole family got a gift. And she’s deliciously adorable. I flew to New Jersey on November 2nd (two weeks after her due date) to hold her for the first time. It was an incredible visit. The northeast was bright with orange and yellow leaves. My nieces and nephew were funny to the bone. And an old lady shit her pants on the airplane. A trip I’ll never forget.
3. Guests galore.
When you live in Miami, the visitor parade kicks in around November and doesn’t end until April or May. We’ve been entertaining our brains out and loving every minute of it. But it also leaves very few minutes for blogging.
4. Happy Thanksgiving
Although we’ve had lots of visitors, we actually had this Thanksgiving to ourselves and it was a really special one. No particular reason that this year stood out except that I felt closer than ever to my little Annie Bea. She didn’t leave my side all day. She spent six hours straight with me in the kitchen. We cooked, sang, danced and when there was nothing for her to contribute, she didn’t take off and play Barbies in her bedroom. She sat at the counter coloring while I chopped onions and washed dishes. Oh, and we had our First Annual Levine Family Pie Eating Contest. Jason won. Annie Bea lost by a landslide.
As usual, I have tons of notes for new blog posts. A lot of funny stuff. Some weird stuff. And a few reflective things. Stay tuned. Here it comes.
P.S. These are some pics from the last month and a half.
